Workplace Safety and Health Regulations (Musculoskeletal Injuries Regulation)
These new regulations spell out the employer's duty to conduct a risk assessment, in consultation with the Workplace Safety and Health Committee or representative, where a risk of musculoskeletal (ergonomic) injury is known to be present, is reasonably obvious, or has been identified.
If the assessment identifies a risk to the workers, the regulations indicate that control measures must be implemented by the employer. For more details on the new Workplace Safety and Health Act and regulations visit the division website at http://web2.gov.mb.ca/laws/regs/pdf/w210-217.06.pdf
