Design and Renovation Services
Enabling Access works with Architects, Designers, Home Owners and Employers through collaboration and our consultation of ergonomic principles and occupational therapy considerations in each phase of the project
development.
Residential Projects
Residential construction relies on building standards and codes. Our occupational therapy consultant brings more than best practices into the design of your home. We offer creative accessible solutions for people of any ability, ensuring your home is both universal in its design, and visit-able in its access. Consultation on disability equipment is provided and our relationships with local vendors allows us discounted pricing on certain accessibility equipment, such as elevators, lifts and ramps. Involving a consultant from Enabling Access in your home building team will ensure that all accessibility and special equipment considerations are addressed and solved in a functional and aesthetic manner.
Commercial Projects
Ergonomic consultation in the planning stages of any new workspace design is critical for ensuring that the end users are comfortable and productive and the employer can be confident knowing the risks for workplace injuries have been reduced. For large or small company renovations or moves to new space, our ergonomic consultant will be an asset to your project team.
At the planning stage we can provide recommendations about workflow, environmental considerations, and workstation configurations. We can conduct a Walk-Through of the existing space to determine the hazards and workplace risk factors, and provide solutions for the new space. We can provide individual ergonomic assessments for employees with medical or special needs to ensure their needs are met with the new space designs.
At the design phase we can provide consultation in lighting, wayfinding, noise and temperature considerations. We can ensure the designs are accessible for both employees and visitors, as well as ergonomically sound to prevent any workplace injuries. Furniture and accessory choices are inherently part of our specialty in that we look at function and comfort to improve productivity and prevent musculoskeletal injuries.
At the follow-up phase we can provide training to employees on how to adjust their furniture and set up their workstations. In addition, we provide ergonomic training to employees to encourage safe use of their bodies in the workplace and teach them the general principles of ergonomics. This training is part of our early intervention focus and will prevent future injuries and save the employer costs associated with WCB claims and employee lost time.
